Greetings adventurers!
I assume you are partial to fantasy, and you’d like more. I do. And since it’s tax day in the U.S., you might be feeling poor. I am. So how bout some free books?
Of course, there’s my recent novella, Heart of the Sky. If you haven’t grabbed your copy yet, it’s not going anywhere anytime soon. As a newsletter participant, you can pick up your copy here: https://dl.bookfunnel.com/xnq4kbhj5o
Anyway, assuming you’ve already read it and want some more. Well, MyBookCave has more indie fantasy authors out there who are giving away more novellas for your perusal. After my obligatory contribution to Uncle Sam, I really appreciate the price point (nothing!).
You can check it out the “Free Fantasy Frenzy” here. You may find another favorite author or two here!
I expect to participate in a few of these. Hopefully it helps you, because as much as I’d love to write as fast as you can read… it ain’t happening. And yes, as a reader, I totally feel your pain. 🙂 In addition, the sponsor of the event is offering a $25 gift card for the ebook retailer of your choice for the winner of a drawing at the end of the month. Win/win!
See You Later Alligator is an urban fantasy set in New Orleans authored by Jena Rey, who is also my editor. It’s one of the selections you can check out. While she and I have different writing styles, I’m sure you’ll appreciate the quality of her work. She writes fun stuff!
Dead to Rights Review
I spent some time talking to Matt Barton on his podcast, Matt Chat, which I linked to last time. He finished reading my SF novel Dead to Rights, set in the deadly world of Steve Jackson Games’ Car Wars. The review is very in-depth. Then again, Matt is a guy who really digs in deep to the philosophy and principles of video game design, so I expected nothing less. You can check out his review here:
Clara Memory
Last week, I lost my canine friend, Clara. Yeah, it was rough. I don’t have a ton of photos of her, but I searched my pictures directory and came up with one I didn’t take. I was flying home after a two-week long business trip. My wife and daughter had just gotten home and were bringing in groceries or something. Clara, as always, was at the door getting only somewhat underfoot, and my wife said something to the effect of, “Later we’re going to go get daddy!”
Well, Clara heard that, and in her doggy understanding, she suddenly rushed through the open door, leaped into the passenger side of the van, and crawled into the driver’s seat and waited for my wife and my daughter to hop in. We just imagined that in her doggy brain, she was thinking, “What are we waiting for? Let’s get him now!”
I miss her. But I think she knew she was loved.
Anyway, that’s all for now. Catch you next time!
